NC State's Industrial Extension Service, the first of its kind in the US, was established in 1955 to help North Carolina industries grow and prosper. Almost 50 years later, our mission is still the same.

During the fiscal year 2000-2001, we provided services to over 38,000 people and firms. We conducted industrial education programs for more than 10,000 industry managers, engineers, and key staff and rolled up our sleeves on more than 10,000 technical assistance projects. Based on client responses, IES services led to a direct annual gain of $209.5 million for North Carolina industries.
